To Dad with Love

Adorably called 'Sona Chacha' by his loving nieces and nephews, my living legend, my Dad is an assured owner of a vibrant personality that cannot be ignored. Admired for his distinctive charm and quick-witted humor he is an effortless crowd- puller to any age group, making him the most favourite person among his kith & kin.

At 75, still as curious as a cat-his exclusive far sight and rare intelligence keeps him updated about not only the current world situations but also the latest awareness on communication,  travel, technology and way beyond. An avid traveller and nature lover, his enthusiasm to the next holiday destination has dates marked well in advance on his personal calendar.

We were a nuclear family of five-I being the older of my two brothers, customarily brought up in a household where we had unannounced relatives and visitors swarm into our home, from across the country to be warmly welcomed by my parents with open arms and doors all year round. By the way, that remains unchanged even today!!

If I were to reminisce - Impromptu dinners, short but adventurous road trips and get-aways to weekenders was a way of life all through our years of growing up. Spending exciting weekends at a beautiful beach resort on the outskirts of the city of Chennai ( where we predominantly lived our childhood) and waking up on a Monday morning to be dropped off straight to school just in time before gates closed, was not an unusual thing for us to do. The essential practice of such spontaneous plans made my mother meticulously efficient. She packed along all our books and uniforms to make sure we appropriately showed up at school.

The Galivanter in him urged him to buy a holiday home in an exotic resort in Goa, where you will find him (for most part of the year) relaxing over a drink at one of his frequently visited shacks on the beach, whispering to the waves or gazing for hours at the moonlit sky.

Known for his generosity, amiable nature and impeccable hospitality, Dad has captivated too many hearts and minds in his lifetime. His happiness quotient is most elevated when he is able to bring laughter and joy while being surrounded by his loved ones.

Living life on his own terms, in his own style my Dad is 'The Man Of The Moment' who never believed in saving for a rainy day. His attitude, if I quote in one line -"If you have expenditures you will have earnings, so don't curb your expenses" motivated him to tide over all of  life's challenges with a wide smile on his face and hope in his heart.

Not Everyday is a King Born.
